This FdA Tourism and Events Management With Foundation Year course has been designed with particular emphasis on the students who might otherwise miss the opportunity to study for a business degree due to their inability to meet minimum entry-level requirements for any UK University degree or too occupied at their profession.
To enhance the employability of the graduates, the course at Oxford Business College (OBC), adopts an optimum blend of theoretical & practical approaches. It emphasises developing key components of emotional & creative intelligence to help the students gain an edge in the employment market. These skills assume extra importance in the present-day world driven by technology & Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The faculty chosen for the programme comes with a wide range of experience & industry links, the benefit of which is reaped by the students. Class sizes are small and intimate to provide the learners one-to-one teaching & support. The OBC also lecturers provide students with insights on the impact of technology on businesses to empower them to leverage technology to boost innovations & improvements in the organisations they get associated with.
To gain entry to the programme you must satisfy the standard or non-standard entry requirements detailed below.
Standard Entry requirements At Level 4 and 5:
- You will hold a relevant Level 3 qualification
- You are required to hold a minimum of 32 UCAS points from studying a relevant qualification or A-Level subjects
- You must hold four GCSEs at grade 4/C or above
- You are required to hold a grade 4/C or above in GCSE maths and English, or to have demonstrated ability in maths and English within further studies (such as key/functional skills).
Non-standard requirements Non-traditional or mature students (aged 21 by 31 December of the year of admission) who do not meet the above criteria will be considered based on assessment of the following criteria through a personal statement, supporting references and an interview:
- Evidence of ability for self-organisation.
- Evidence of ability to work independently.
- The motivation to learn.
- Interest in the subject area.
- Evidence of ability to work with others.
- Background knowledge, skills and experience in a relevant sector setting.
- Two years full-time work in a relevant organisation.
- If needed, a commitment to study GCSE Maths and English alongside the programme.
Applicants at level 4 who do not have English as their first language will be required to have as a minimum an IELTS overall score of 5.5 with none of the tested component scores less than 5.0 in addition to the required entry qualifications.
Entry onto all courses requires a minimum of Level B2 within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages this is equivalent to:
- IELTS – 5.5 in each language learning component (speaking, reading, writing, listening)
