FOUNDATION PROGRAMME

COURSE OVERVIEW

The course has two related aims: academic and language based. From an academic point of view, you will not only secure a recognised qualification that can guarantee a place on the first year of an undergraduate degree course in the UK, but also receive a thorough preparation for that course. You will expand your understanding of the subject and be trained to study effectively in a British environment: essential grounding for the demands of a university degree. In terms of English language teaching, our Foundation Diplomas are designed to bring students’ IELTS levels up to at least 6.0 (generally the minimum level required by UK universities). As this is obviously a key requirement, a good deal of attention is paid – where necessary – to improving students’ language levels, with a particular emphasis on being able to write and understand academic English.

How it works?

The Foundation Programme offers durations of two, three, or four terms, equivalent to six, nine, or twelve months, respectively. Each term extends for a minimum of ten weeks, though this can increase to a maximum of twelve weeks to accommodate half-term breaks and holidays. The programme mandates a minimum of eighteen hours of weekly classroom tuition, which increases to twenty-four and a half hours for the six-month duration. Additionally, all enrolled students are expected to dedicate at least ten hours weekly to homework.

This programme is ideally suited for international students possessing a robust high school education who aspire to pursue undergraduate degrees in Business, Law, or Engineering at a British university.
