Primary responsibilities

Academic assistants perform several tasks on job and maintain a smooth flow of tasks and communication in a classroom. Academic assistant responsibilities can be categorized under the following heads:

Academic Assistant Responsibilities

  • Calling students for assignment submissions – all intakes
  • Providing academic support to students and deliver designated modules (non-subject specific modules)
  • Dissemination of instructional materials, test papers, scorecards, handouts and other material necessary for teaching and evaluation of students
  • Facilitate module evaluations with the Programme Coordinator
  • Observe the participation of students in individual and group activities
  • Inform the students about classroom schedule, upcoming tests and assignments, assessment results, extracurricular activities or any other events in the premises
  • Answer queries of the students related to the designated modules
  • Report any inappropriate behaviour of student to the Programme Coordinator
  • Setup and operate audio visual equipment such as projector and assist the Lecturers in explaining the content of the audio-visual instructional material to students, if needed
  • To perform additional duties as assigned by the line manager
  • Support the setup of online delivery

Essential Criteria

  • Teaching Assistant Qualifications
  • GCSEs or Level 3 in English
  • Previous experience in an academic administrative role
  • High attention to detail
  • Team player with the ability to work in a busy team but also able to work on own initiative and prioritise workload
  • IT literate

This list is not exhaustive, and the postholder may be required to undertake other such duties as determined by the Line Manager in consultation with the postholder to ensure the continual progress of the College.
