Oxford Business College (OBC) is a pioneering institution, providing a unique gateway to higher education for overlooked individuals, especially mature students facing barriers in traditional education. OBC’s transformative approach operates seven days a week, acknowledging diverse lifestyles and workload commitments of non-traditional learners during the week. With campuses in West London, Slough, Oxford, and Nottingham, OBC’s ultra-flexible scheduling ensures inclusivity, supported by robust digital infrastructure. OBC actively fosters a sense of belonging for students from all backgrounds, offering comprehensive support services. Emphasising practical skills for employability through industry placements, OBC stands as a catalyst for change, redefining higher education with unwavering commitment to accessibility, flexibility, and inclusivity, opening doors for a diverse range of students. Known for high academic standards and highly qualified staff, the College has 7000+ students from diverse backgrounds, orientations, and cultures.
The College has achieved remarkable success in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2023, securing top positions in key categories. In teaching on my course, we proudly stand at 16th place out of 181 providers, ranking among the top 8.8% with an impressive positivity measure of 92.7%. Demonstrating our commitment to learning opportunities, we claim the 11th spot, standing in the top 6.1% with a remarkable positivity measure of 92.6%. Our dedication to academic support is evident with a 48th place, reaching the top 26.5% and a positivity measure of 89.2%. These achievements highlight our focus on excellence in education, supported by a student population of 348 who completed this survey.
OBC keeps students’ employability at the top and endeavours to make them smart enough to enter the fast-paced digital era of the corporate world or the future business leaders with ethical business practices. In 2022, OBC became the first independent business school in the UK having membership of Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS).
Thousands of its alumni have become successful professionals and entrepreneurs in different parts of the world. The college expanded from one campus in Oxford to four cities, numerous campuses and partnerships with multiple UK universities including the University of West London, Ravensbourne University London, and Buckinghamshire New University.
The College provides a wide range of job-oriented undergraduate courses in business and management. In addition, OBC’s International Foundation is one of the longest-running programmes in Oxford recognised and accepted by over 25 UK universities including a few elite Russell Group members. The College consistently received nominations within the top 10 for the ‘Best Independent Higher Education Provider’ category at the ‘WhatUni Awards’ in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. Notably, it secured victory and earned the award in both 2020 and 2021.
The independent Board of Governors (BoG) and an experienced Senior Management Team (SMT) provide the leadership to the College.
The BoG plays a vital role in the strategic development and performance of the College. The Board also enables the College to operate effectively and oversees progress against the strategic goals and the accountability of the executive group. Our BoG comprises highly respected and experienced members of academia and business.
Whilst the BoG takes on a monitoring and oversight role, it delegates the executive powers to the Senior Management Team (SMT) of the College. This team is responsible for designing, developing and implementing the strategy. The driver for the strategic growth of the College, the SMT is responsible for efficiently running the College within the legal framework and ensuring it meets students’ needs.
